My second trip to Estadio Olímpico Patria, this time to see Universitario take on already relegated and bottom of the table La Paz. On paper this looked a much easier game than the previous match against last season’s champions. I’d also managed to get a bit of a gringo group together – a firm if you like – which made a significant contribution to the overall attendance.

The game itself proved as easy for Universitario as it looked on paper and having broken the deadlock after just a few minutes, the floodgates opened and they destroyed a weak La Paz team 5-1. The atmosphere was much flatter than in the previous weeks thriller and the attendance must have been down by at least 1000 – La Paz bringing no travelling support. But it was still good fun and I’m looking forward to the final game of the season against ‘The Strongest’ – one of the two big sides from La Paz (and one of 4 teams still in with a shout for the title).
